We are responsible for the strategic direction of the Fairtrade system, the Fairtrade Standards and support to our member organizations worldwide.
 
Fairtrade International currently has a Student Assistant position available in its 
Standards & Pricing Unit
 
Reports to: Head of Standards

PRINCIPAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Overall: Provide administrative, organizational, logistical, analytical and other work related services to assist the work of the Unit
  • Assist in the creation of – surveys, questionnaires and other materials  for the Standard consultations
  • Assist in the data analysis of consultation results and inputs from workshops
  • Support the development of presentations and materials to effectively communicate the outcomes of the Standard consultations support with proofreading, formatting documents, and ensuring terms remain consistent throughout different projects
  • Assist in the coordination and facilitation of internal meetings, in particular in the quarterly Standards Committee meetings. Carry out information research tasks upon request 
  • Support the improvement and management of the S&P subsection in the website. 

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Excellent English
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in visual representation of information or data
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for making basic graphs and charts. Macros is not a must but familiarity with pivot tables is necessary
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft office)
  • Comfort in using various digital collaborative tools like Miro/Mural/MS teams/mind-maps etc.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skill sets as well as knowledge
  • Motivation for the cause of Fairtrade
  • Studies in the field of Economics, Agronomy, Politics, Social Science, Geography related field would be an asset
  • Some experience of working with or working in developing countries (e.g., work, internships, travels) would be an asset
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, and/or Portuguese would be an advantage
  • Only applicants can be considered who are enrolled in German universities 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Working time 20 hours per week, distributed flexible
  • Remuneration according to the Salary group II of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Wholesale and Foreign Trade Industries for North Rhine Westphalia.
  • Duration: 12 months
  • Location: Fairtrade International office, Bonn, Germany
